Product managers can be a stubborn lot who persist with their ideas even when the data suggests otherwise. In this presentation, Ramesh Gururaja, chief product officer of ecommerce major Tokopedia, draws on his experiences at Microsoft, Amazon, and more to talk about the myth of perseverance and how product managers can use data effectively.

Gururaja emphasizes the need to let data guide decision-making and avoid biases in data collection. He also shares examples of data biases, such as an experiment conducted by Boston City that inadvertently favored rich neighborhoods, and highlights the dangers of relying on vanity metrics that don’t provide meaningful insights.
