China triumphs over the West just before the year ends as Vici Gaming (VG) conquers the Dota 2 Raidcall Electronic Sports League Major Series One (EMS One). The Chinese team won the grand finals with a 3-1 victory against Fnatic. This victory is huge for VG as it is the second championship in less than a week after having won Sina Cup Season 2. Not only that, but this also marks the first victory of an Asian team over the West in a tournament since The International 2012.
VG was invited to EMS One on short notice as a replacement for Team DK who couldn’t make it due to visa issues. And VG did not disappoint as they convincingly crushed formidable teams and tournament favorites Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) and The Alliance.
This is not the last we’ve seen of VG in Western tournaments, though, as they are also set to participate in the live finals of the HyperX Dota 2 League Season 4 (D2L S4) on January 7-10, 2014 in Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas. They will be joined by another Chinese team, LGD.cn who finished undefeated in the Eastern Division of the D2L S4.
