The Verge 到了.
The Verge, the techy arm of America’s Vox Media, is now available in Chinese for readers in mainland China.
It comes after a content agreement with China’s Tencent.
Like similar partnerships that WeChat’s parent company has brokered with media organizations like Re/code, Business Insider, and The Next Web, articles under The Verge brand can now be found on QQ Tech, the news portal run by Tencent.
The translated from The Verge will also be distributed on social media in China – the company has already launched an official WeChat account.
Exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Tencent owns all the copyrights on The Verge’s Chinese translations, which means the company will be able to go after any unauthorized translations floating around on the web. Bootleg translations of tech websites used to be rampant in China, but an increasing number of legitimate partnerships (namely Tencent’s) have given Chinese readers more ways to access American tech news in their native language.
