Hello reader,
What happens when two tech giants merge?
Why, the new entity’s org chart becomes a whole lot more important, of course. Wouldn’t want to let out a fart when you’re unknowingly in the elevator with your new manager, would you?
Jokes aside, a big event like Gojek and Tokopedia joining forces inevitably leads to a lot of big names playing a game of musical chairs – and, of course, more changes happening after the fact. In today’s premium article, we get an up-to-date look at who’s calling what shots at GoTo Group now that it’s been almost two years since it was formed.
Today we look at:
- An updated look at GoTo Group’s key decision-makers
- Meta cutting another 10,000 jobs
- Other newsy highlights such as Sea Group’s new Singapore-based digibank and the strategic funding round of a mental health app

What does it mean to be a leader?
As someone who’s had the privilege of working with and under some inspiring individuals, I’ve come to the conclusion that being a leader means helping – both tangibly and intangibly – others to grow and become fuller, better versions of themselves.
Given that true realization and growth must come from within, that means that the process matters as much – if not more – than the result. It’s a delicate balancing act.
At GoTo Group, the stakes for the leaders are probably as high as they get. It’s why any changes in roles and responsibilities make headlines – and that’s the case for this latest round of shifts.
- Moves at the very top: Tokopedia CEO William Tanuwijaya announced that he would become co-chairman of GoTo along with its president commissioner, Garibaldi Thohir.
- Who’s got next? Tanuwijaya’s CEO seat at Tokopedia will go to Melissa Siska Juminto. She will also become GoTo’s president of ecommerce while continuing to serve as the group’s chief human resources officer.
- Aye aye, captain: The hope is that these leadership shifts will help GoTo navigate the wintry macroeconomic environment toward its ultimate destination: profitability.
