Ecommerce giant JD.com, growth-stage venture fund ATM Capital, and global alternative asset manager Redbadge Pacific, as well as existing investors Global Grand Leisure and WHG Capital also joined the fundraise.
With the new investment, TheAsianparent plans to expand to more markets in Asia and Africa. It’s also looking to speed up the development of its community-driven app, which was launched in September 2018.
TheAsianparent began as a parenting blog, but it has transitioned from being a content platform to a social network that serves as an information resource for parents in the region. “One thing that hasn’t changed is our focus on parenting from an Asian perspective,” said founder and CEO Roshni Mahtani.
Since its launch, the Singapore-headquartered company has 180 staff across its 12 markets, including Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, Taiwan, Japan, and Nigeria. It also claims to have over 23.5 million monthly active users.
