Unitree set for Shanghai debut after $905m IPO
China’s Unitree, a Hangzhou-based robotics company known for humanoid and quadruped robots, is expected to start trading in Shanghai next week after raising 6.1 billion yuan (US$905 million).
Retail subscriptions reportedly exceeded 8,000 times the shares on offer.
Off-exchange trading has signaled strong demand.
Private share platforms and crypto-linked contracts imply gains of about 176% to nearly 4x the 150.8 yuan (US$22) offer price, and some successful subscribers were reportedly offered 410 yuan (US$61) a share.
The enthusiasm comes as Unitree’s humanoid robot revenue reached 868 million yuan (US$129 million) in 2025, accounting for 51.78% of its main business income.
The company also shipped more than 5,500 humanoid robots, compared with 5,168 sold by Shanghai-based rival Agibot.
Still, Unitree’s first-quarter 2026 revenue growth slowed to 68.49%, and adjusted net profit fell 52.55% to about 40.3 million yuan (US$5.97 million).
Broader industrial uses for humanoid robots are still being developed and tested, with research and education still the biggest market for Unitree’s humanoid robots.
In the US, the Federal Communications Commission is banning imports of new foreign-made humanoid and quadruped robots.
