Unitree IPO draws strong demand from retail investors
Unitree Robotics, a Hangzhou-based humanoid robot maker, said in an exchange filing released on Aug. 10 that its Shanghai initial public offering (IPO) was 5,526 times oversubscribed by retail investors, with 9.8 million orders placed.
The company sold 40.4 million shares at 150.8 yuan (US$22) each, raising about 6.1 billion yuan (US$904 million). The offering values Unitree at about 61 billion yuan (US$9.05 billion).
Unitree is expected to debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market this month as mainland China’s first publicly traded humanoid robot maker.
About 20% of the shares on offer were allocated to strategic investors, including DeepSeek, a Chinese AI startup, a Tencent-affiliated investment vehicle, and investment arms of state-owned companies including China National Petroleum Corp., China Southern Power Grid Co., and China Telecom Corp.
