Twestival™ (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good. It is an event which Twitter users (in fact everyone!) work hand-in-hand to do something meaningful. All of the local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all donations go direct to projects.
Last year, we raised more than US$ 7,000, of which US$ 4,500 was raised on the night itself, making Singapore amongst the top ten nations in terms of funds raised.
This year, for @TwestivalSg 2011, we are supporting Children-at-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE). Established in 1997, CARE Singapore provides school-based social work services, reaching out to primary and secondary youths who are at risk of academic failure, behaviour problems, emotional maladjustment, self-harm or delinquency.
The Twestival team chose CARE Singapore for their focus on empowering the youths at-risk in Singapore by providing them with skills training for their future.
On 24 March 2011, we will have a fun, family friendly event to raise awareness of and funds for CARE Singapore with live entertainment, jamming sessions with local artistes like Jack & Rai, Nicholas Chim & Band, Andrew & Azad as well as face painting, photo booths and games!
We hope you are as thrilled as we are to be a part of this worldwide event as we raise funds for a worthy cause like youth empowerment. The team is hoping to raise $10,000 this year, so every dollar counts and together, we can become a part of a global initiative to help the next-generation.
