Tripoto is a place for your travel stories, where celebrities share too

Here’s yet another interesting new travel startup from India. Tripoto lets global travelers share their travel experience and discover new places. It serves as a crowdsourced space for travel stories from around the world, with content such as maps, pictures, itineraries, and trip overviews.
There are so many great travel stories out there, scattered around the web. Tripoto aims to collect these stories on a single site for easy search and discovery. Each story is presented with a user-friendly interface so amateur travelers like me can easily understand and use them as tips for my own holiday. Tripoto was launched in September this year.
Influential people are sharing too

Another hook for Tripoto is that it has persuaded some celebrities and respected travelers to write about their own voyages. Anirudh Gupta, the co-founder of Tripoto, put the idea to numerous influencers, and quite a number were keen to inspire other travelers by sharing their experience too.
These sharers include Ayushman Khurana (Bollywood actor), Matthew Crompton (winner of a Solas Awards for travel writing), Dhritiman Mukherjee (wildlife photographer at National Geographic), and Zomato’s Pankaj Chaddah. Their stories are published in series every three to four days.
Storytelling
Anirudh and Michael Lyngdoh, the other co-founder of Tripoto, traveled extensively over the last few years – especially Michael who has been to over 35 countries in the past five years. During those trips, they knew a number of travelers and managed to keep in touch with them. Anirudh added, “Before we decided to launch, we spoke to many either via email or call. Today, many of the people we reached out to have turned out to be our early sharers.” Both co-founders also follow and read a lot of travel blogs to expand their knowledge.
Currently, Tripoto has received 100 travel itineraries from around the world and has published around 50 of them. The team will be pushing all the stories within a month as it continues to build content.
Building content
Tripoto is up against similar concepts on Mygola and JoGuru. Mygola raised $1.5 million in funding last week. But Anirudh is confident in Tripoto’s appeal:
I think this space is still in a nascent stage. Success would depend on the ease of product use and the pace of execution in my opinion.
We started building the product in late June and started content acquisition in August. We take pride in our speed of execution and want to continue at a fast pace in making product improvements and adding content.
