Gojek expands Singapore fleet with Trans-Cab partnership

Indonesian unicorn Gojek announced it is expanding its transport offering in Singapore through a partnership with local taxi company Trans-Cab.

Gojek also said it is looking to launch new services and features for its users in Singapore, the home turf of archrival Grab, including the option to book different vehicle types and new services.

As part of its partnership with Trans-Cab, more than 3,000 Trans-Cab drivers will be given access to bookings made through Gojek’s platform. They will be able to serve private-hire trips with a flat fare from December 2019. Trans-Cab drivers will also be given the same driver benefits as Gojek driver-partners.

In addition, Trans-Cab CEO Teo Kiang Ang said that the two companies will continue to explore new joint benefits for their respective driver-partners, including preferential home electricity rates by Singapore energy provider Union Energy, the holding company of Trans-Cab.

Gojek’s partnership with Trans-Cab and their talks with Union Energy mark an extension of the ride-hailing giant’s existing collaboration with the Trans-Cab group. In May of this year, Trans-Cab’s vehicle rental arm, Trans-Leasing, was onboarded as a Gojek fleet partner.

“We have completed 30 million trips here since we launched exactly one year ago – a significant milestone that would not have been possible without the support of our driver-partners, customers, and everyone in the Gojek Singapore team,” said Gojek co-CEO Andre Soelistyo.

Soelistyo, who previously served as Gojek’s group president, was named co-CEO of the company alongside co-founder Kevin Aluwi after former CEO Nadiem Makarim took up a government post in Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s new cabinet.
