In brief: SoftBank invests in South Korean online book club
- Trevari, a South Korean online book club platform, has raised 5 billion won (US$4.44 million) in its first round of investment led by SoftBank Ventures Asia. Fast Investment also participated in the round.
- Founded in 2015, Trevari runs a subscription-based platform where subscribers can join book clubs that meet in person.
- The startup addresses users’ need to discover a sense of belonging with those who share similar tastes, said Jay Choi, a senior associate at SoftBank Ventures Asia.
- According to the Seoul-based venture capitalist, around 4,600 active paid members have participated in 300 book clubs in spaces run by Trevari.
