As part of the first phase of its launch, the new geotagging feature will be available for businesses that have joined Tokomart from the Greater Jakarta and Bandung regions. Tokopedia said it aims to continue adding more areas moving forward.
The launch of Tokomart will not only allow users to avail cheaper shipping fees, it would also help businesses reach the right buyers more easily and maximize sales, according to the company.
The ecommerce giant’s merchant development senior lead Hartawan Lesmana said Tokopedia is working with strategic partners such as Hypermart, LotteMart Indonesia, Sayurbox, and local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from various industries to provide over 200,000 products on the Tokomart page.
The exec also shared that throughout last year, the company saw food and beverage become one of the most popular categories in its app, claiming that it generated a 3x increase in transactions as compared to its pre-pandemic numbers.
