Enjoying Ramadan has become easier with the presence of Islamic applications on mobile devices. Given that people rely heavily on mobile phones, apps can certainly be very helpful for Muslims as they fast and yet still go about their everyday routines.
We at Penn Olson have selected three of the most useful apps for the holy month.
With these apps there’s no more reason to forget praying times or lose track of the Qibla position. These three have been created especially for Muslims, and get frequent updates with new information:
1. Islamic Pocket Guide

This application is available for BlackBerry phones, and provides a speaking reminder of prayer times, such as for Maghrib and Fajr. The app can also determine the Qibla direction, and contains lots more useful information for Muslims. As this app is in the Indonesian language, it’s little wonder that it’s so popular among Indonesians, especially during Ramadan. This application can be downloaded for free in BlackBerry AppWorld.
2. iPray

Similarly with the Islamic Pocket Guide, but for iOS devices, the iPray application also provides prayer time notifications and accurate Qibla directions. iPray also provides a Muslim calendar to highlight Islamic events throughout the year. The application has been recently updated for this year’s Ramadan. This application is available on iTunes for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
3. Muslim Pro: Azan & Quran
