Sleek names ex-UOB exec as head of fintech, strategic partnerships

Singapore-based fintech startup Sleek has named Pauline Sim, former senior vice president of United Overseas Bank’s (UOB) fintech, ecosystem, and innovation division, to serve as its head of fintech and strategic partnerships.

Sim had started her banking career serving UOB’s small and medium enterprises (SME) segment. In 2015, she helped set up The Finlab, a joint venture between UOB and SGInnovate aimed at accelerating global fintech startups.

In her new role, Sim will overlook the development of financial services and digital solutions at Sleek and lead its new business verticals’ expansion projects.

“Her credentials and wealth of experience in the SMEs and startup landscape will prove to be an invaluable addition to Sleek’s goals and help propel us to greater heights,” said Sleek co-founder and CEO Julien Labruyere.

Sleek was founded in Singapore in May 2017. It operates a digital platform that helps businesses set up shop in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Sleek claims to have served over 3,500 startups and companies across both markets to date. Last year, it said its customers had achieved over US$1.26 billion in total paid-up share capital.

In November last year, the company raised US$4 million in a round led by Enterprise Singapore’s investment arm Seeds Capital to help with its expansion into new markets in Asia.
