Thanks to Cherry Credits, your Facebook Like can help victims of Typhoon Haiyan
Typhoon Haiyan might finally be gone, but won’t be forgotten for quite some time. Help is still needed in affected areas of the Philippines, and Cherry Credits has pledged a base of 350,000 pesos (about $7991) towards victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
Even better, they’ll be including an additional one peso for every Facebook like on the note they’ve posted, up to a cool total of one million pesos.
Together with Filipina celebrity cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao, the Singapore-based company is supporting ‘Be A Cause’, a charity group spearheading the recovery project ‘Balikdagat Basey’, or Back to Sea, which aims to repair and build fishing bancas for fishermen in the island of Samar. The cost of a new paddle banca is estimated at 6,000 pesos ($138).

These sobering words are from a fisherman on an island in Northern Iloilo, Philippines, and remind us that the disaster areas need more than just canned food and newly-built houses.
