Singtel’s restaurant review portal HungryGoWhere to close in July
“Food and restaurant reviews portal HungryGoWhere is set to shutter on July 11,” The Business Times reported.
Details:
- On its homepage, the company posted a message about its closure. “It has been an amazing 15 years, and we’re really proud to have served you. Thanks for supporting us, we’ll miss you.”
- The move comes after Singtel, which acquired HungryGoWhere in 2012, said it has begun a strategic review of its digital marketing arm amid slowing growth in its traditional carrier business.
Context:
- The telecommunications titan snapped up HungryGoWhere.com for S$12 million (US$9.4 million). Operations-wise, it was merged with Singtel’s inSing.com, a lifestyle and local search site.
- In September 2020, Singtel’s share price hit a 12-year low of S$2.17 (US$1.60). A decline in equipment sales, falling revenues for data roaming and pre-paid mobile, and delays in enterprise projects dragged down its operating revenue last year.
