Fighting game tourney South East Asia Major confirmed for 2014 (UPDATED with venue)
UPDATE 23-01-2014: Venue has been announced! Read on for more info.
The South East Asia Major (SEA Major) has just been confirmed for June 20 to June 22, 2014. The region’s first major fighting game tournament is now in its fourth year.
The dates were announced in a trailer that also confirmed the games; Ultra Street Fighter IV, King of Fighters XIII, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Blazblue Chrono Phantasma, and most surprisingly, Hearthstone. The tournament’s sponsors appear to be the same as last year’s: both Mad Catz and Razer are onboard.
The event’s venue is still unknown. According to organizer Koh Yongde, the event will most likely be held at the existing Tough Cookie Gaming Cafe, a console gaming cafe best known for its place in the heart of Singapore’s fighting game community.
Last year’s SEA Major saw over 200 participants from eleven countries, and was held in the Alienware Arena, a venue with the maximum capacity of just over a hundred people.
