Tencent Cloud brings 3D AI nodes to ComfyUI workflows
Tencent Cloud partnered with open-source AI workflow tool ComfyUI to add Tencent HY 3D Global 3.0 as native partner nodes for 3D generation in ComfyUI.
ComfyUI is a node-based visual interface used to build generative AI workflows.
The nodes support text-to-3D, image-to-3D, and sketch-to-3D generation.
It also said the integration includes parts decomposition for splitting assets into editable components, UV unwrapping, and smart topology for generating cleaner, production-ready meshes.
ComfyUI has more than 105,000 GitHub stars.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
A freemium API meets a newly funded open-source platform
- The deal pairs Tencent’s freemium model access with ComfyUI’s workflow hub.
- Tencent’s Hunyuan 3D is an in-house generative AI model from Tencent. Tencent offers a freemium global product plus API access via Tencent Cloud, Tencent’s cloud unit. Tencent Hunyuan 3D Global includes 20 free generations per day. Enterprise users of the Hunyuan 3D Model API via Tencent Cloud get 200 free credits for generating 3D assets 1.
- Adoption in Mainland China includes more than 150 enterprises. Unity China, the China arm of game-engine company Unity, and 3D printing firm Bambu Lab have integrated the Tencent Hunyuan 3D Model via Tencent Cloud 1.
- ComfyUI is a node-based visual interface for building generative AI workflows. It recently raised $17 million to build a cloud service and become the “OS of creative AI” 2.
- The integration gives Tencent a path to a global group of power users, while ComfyUI adds a production-ready node for its commercial platform.
The new playbook for global AI distribution
- The approach uses open-source workflow tools as the main route to global reach, instead of relying on standalone apps.
- Embedding the API inside ComfyUI puts Tencent in front of creators plus developers, without building a new community from scratch 3, 2.
- Free quotas can feed paid usage when teams outgrow the limits, which supports Tencent’s plan to sell API access 1.
- Adding tools from large vendors supports ComfyUI’s goal of becoming an essential “OS” for AI work 2.
- The pattern can help other foundational model providers scale overseas with less overhead.
