Indonesia’s TelkomVision Joins With Irdeto To Improve Pay TV

TelkomVision, a subsidiary TV provider of PT Telkom Indonesia, is cooperating with Irdeto to increase the quality of its pay TV service. Irdeto is a global enterprise security software and media technology company, headquartered in Amsterdam and Beijing. It will provide Conditional Access System Service (CAS) for TelkomVision customers via 500,000 smart cards which are to support TelkomVision broadcasts.

With this collaboration TelkomVision aims to double its user base in 2011. Currently the penetration rate of pay TV in Indonesia is only 3%, and Irdeto estimates that this figure will increase to 7% by 2015.

To capitalize on this projected growth, TelkomVision has developed various products that are more affordable for the Indonesian public. Hit Family package, for example, costs only US$6.5 per month.

Elvizar KH, President Director of TelkomVision stated “Our strong partnership with Irdeto helps us accelerate our product innovation, grow our subscriber base, and make us the preferred choice for consumers.”

Currently the Indonesian people are very enthusiastic about social media technologies. Despite many new advancements such as Internet TV and mobile tech, the presence of pay TV is still one of the priorities for most families and households in the country. Hopefully Indonesians can enjoy a much better entertainment experience as TelkomVision steps up its service and quality.
