In brief: 2 Singapore e-scooter firms to face court charges for unlicensed operations

Singapore e-scooter operators Telepod and Neuron Mobility will face court charges for providing sharing services for personal mobility devices (PMDs) at public places without a license or exemption.

As of February 14, LTA has impounded 68 Telepod PMDs after giving repeated written warnings to the operator, as well as 131 Neuron e-scooters. The authority will bring the charges against Telepod on Thursday and Neuron at a later date.

According to Neuron, the LTA introduced a new PMD licensing scheme in January. “We submitted our application for it and are looking forward to positive results,” the company said in a statement.

Neuron implemented a new feature on its app to encourage users to ride stray scooters back to designated parking spots in exchange for Neuron credits. It added that users who parked outside the designation stations have also been penalized.
