Capital A’s food delivery service AirAsia Food has set foot in Jakarta, DailySocial ID reported. The service, which began operating in suburban Tangerang in March 2022, is available through the AirAsia super app.
The firm says that it has had thousands of registrations since opening applications for food and beverage vendors in December 2021. Current merchants include DCrepes, IKI Bento, and Burger Bangor.
Customers can pay with debit or credit, AirAsia points, as well as digital payment systems Doku and Ovo. The food delivery platform also offers self-pickups and on-demand delivery, which the company arranges via a partnership with Gojek’s GoSend service.
The addition of the food delivery feature means that the AirAsia super app now offers a total of 16 different products, including ticketing and ecommerce.
The food delivery service is cashing in on Indonesia, which is still Southeast Asia’s largest food delivery market, reaching a gross merchandise value of US$4.6 billion in 2021.
In March 2022, Delly Nugraha was appointed country head of AirAsia super app in Indonesia. Prior to this, he held leadership roles at Gojek, Carsome Indonesia, Indosat, and Hutchison 3 Indonesia.
