This Week in Asia Tech Start-ups: 9 That Caught Our Eye

asia-tech-startupsAs usual, we have quite a few Asian start-up on our radar this week, from Indonesia, China, and Singapore.

For folks who are interested to invest or partner with these start-ups, drop us an email — hello[at]penn-olson[dot]com – anytime.

And if you’re a tech start-up founder in Asia hoping to be featured, kindly send us your pitch here.

(Uh.. And somehow, we have a lot of Singapore-based start-ups featured our blog this week.)

1. MiQi.cn | China

The Chinese e-commerce site MiQi.cn, which specializes in cosmetics, has just completed a round of funding from DT Capital. It’s valued, in the Chinese media, at an unspecified “tens of millions” of RMB.

2. LobangClub | Singapore

Typical pre-purchase research today involves googling, checking prices, and reading reviews. But sometimes the search engines don’t give you a proper listing of prices and the results reflected aren’t specific to your location. But the LobangClub app does it differently and more conveniently. It scans a product’s barcode and then compares prices with location listed.

3. iTwin | Singapore

Akash Nemani at iTwin, informed us that the Singapore-based start-up has just taken its long overdue Mac version out of beta, and is ready for primetime. It only works for OS X Lion and Snow Leopard, though. So tough luck for Leopard or Tiger users.

4. Idblognetwork | Indonesia

Idblognetwork, Indonesia’s blog advertising network, has successfully landed investment from East Ventures. Idblognetwork currently has 5,000 blogger members and has been actively connecting bloggers with brands for advertising opportunities. It has also held events like Blogilicious and ASEAN Blogger Declaration in an effort to unite Indonesian bloggers into one big community.

5. AllDealsAsia | Singapore

Started about a year ago by founder Goh Yiping, daily deals aggregator site AllDealsAsia.com has received a round of investment from Iconic Ventures, a venture capital fund set up by the founders of JobsCentral Group.
