Hello reader,

I’m a careful person by nature. I like to consider all the factors at play and must feel at ease before finalizing decisions.

In many ways, this is similar to how companies operate, which is understandable. If you’re dealing with huge sums of money and employing a number of people, you’d definitely want to be careful with your moves, especially risky ones.

However, no one has ever founded a startup to be careful about every single thing. Sometimes, you’ve got to just take the plunge – which is what Indonesian digibank Superbank might be looking to do with an IPO later this year.

Today we look at:

  • Superbank’s potential IPO in Jakarta this year
  • Line Next’s new lineup of DApps
  • Other newsy highlights such as SingPost’s new CFO and South Korea’s plans for a national AI computing center

A lot of the craze surrounding IPOs seems to have died down over the past year. Superbank appears unfazed by this, however, as it’s reportedly looking to list on the Indonesian bourse this year. Now the question is this: Can it back up this move?

  • The goal: The digital bank, which is supported by Emtek Group, Grab, KakaoBank, and Singtel, is reportedly looking to raise between US$200 million and US$300 million for its IPO in 2025.
  • Caution: Superbank will have to be careful about how it navigates the IPO, given that it’s still operating at a loss. Moreover, the environment for digital banks isn’t great right now, with share prices for other companies dropping between 20.6% and 41.7% over the last year.
  • The silver bullet: Superbank brings some advantages to the table. Its CEO, for one, has extensive experience in the banking sector. Its investors also offer financial resources and a wealth of expertise.
