Teamie is a start-up that fuses social and learning into one. It is essentially built with three different groups of people in mind: students, teachers, and management. Teamie’s social networking capabilities allow students and teachers to discuss and converse over schoolwork. Besides peer-to-peer learning, it is also perfect for online project collaboration.
The social learning platform also helps teachers conduct e-learning lessons more effectively. The biggest plus point for teachers is that Teamie provides tools for them to create assignments and quizzes online. Since assignments are done online, grading can be automated which saves them a lot of time. Alternatively, teachers can also upload documents and share them with students on the network instantaneously. And that sounds like a lot of paper saved too.
That might sound a bit basic. But Shivanu Shukla, a Teamie rep, tells us that the service also includes “analytics, and a recommendation engine to provide insights and recommendations to improve the learning process and performance.” That sounds like a real jewel but the start-up isn’t revealing what exactly that is since it is still in private beta. Shukla explains further:
As part of the beta launch, we will be launching a consumer version of the platform as a free trial on our website. This will allow any user to start an “Instant Classroom” and invite other students/users to join that classroom.
