Why do most founders struggle to write a proper pitch deck?

I spend an inordinate about of time giving feedback to founders as to why their pitch deck sucks (AKA will not get them funding) and how to get their message across simply.

To try help founders fundraising in a more scalable means, for what really is a generally painful process, I have written a template pitch deck and blogs about why they need one and how to do it. There is also a depth of resources available online (Which I didn’t have when I jumped feet first into startup) from bloggers smarter than I am, so there should really be no excuse for totally failing.

It would be incredibly fascinating to me to get honest views from founders about how they go about writing a deck, the difficulties they face, whether they do any reading or even if they see the need in one?

I’d love to not have to say to another founder ‘I still don’t understand what it is you do and I don’t see you are actually solving a problem?’

Please share your experiences below. It would be great to be able to empathize better!
