Base on the latest survey by MasterCard in 14 Asia Pacific countries in 2015, the proportion of people shopping online in the past 3 months has increased from 68.4 percent to 80.2 percent, achieving the second highest growth rate (11.8 percent) in the Asia Pacific.

Aviation, consumer electronics products, and tourism are the top three areas where Vietnamese consumers spend the most money when they shop online. Aviation has a highest market share of online shopping (US$95), even though a significant reduction from last year’s level of US$143. The Consumer Electronics Product came in second with US$82, followed by tourism at US$71.

In Vietnam, online shopping satisfaction has increased by 7.4 percent compared with last year, with 62.1 percent of respondents saying they were satisfied with online shopping. In addition, the number of those surveyed said they would make an online shopping transaction in the next 6 months rise from 91 percent to 94 percent in the previous year, this is the second highest rate in the Asia Pacific, after China at 96.4 percent.

The survey results show that consumers are often concerned about three factors when shopping online: The prestige of a website 83.8 percent, the convenient payment methods (81 percent) and policy pay or barter (81 percent).

All numbers indicate that Vietnam’s ecommerce market is headed in the right direction. It’s likely we’ll see more growth in 2016.
