Hello, Bangalore! This quarter, we’re bringing the City Chapter Meetups to your city! 

We’re kicking off a series of meetups in Namma Bengaluru where we aim to have focused conversations useful to the smart set of startuppers here. And meet our new TIA City Chapter Lead for Bangalore, Vijetha Shastry, a familiar figure in startup circles.

Our first meetup –  “3 Models of Smart Hiring: Straight from the Founders” – tackles an issue all startups face from the very outset: how to hire the best fit for a job, role, or project in a timely and affordable way.

We’re bringing together three entrepreneurs who have made a mark with three very different models for smart hiring. They will make you rethink how you hire or get hired, and also share their experiences and challenges in building startups for this space.

Here’s a brief introduction to each of them and their startups:

Nitesh Agrawal, Co-Founder at Indiez – IIT Bombay grad Nitesh has had an interesting journey from being one of the first techies at Ola to helping Housing build its product with data science. His startup Indiez solves a tech talent scarcity with a curated bunch of freelancers. Indiez will follow up on deliverables or payments, track projects to see if they will get done in time, and so on. Indiez recently raised US$500,000 in seed funding led by Haresh Chawla, Partner at True North (India Value Fund).

Guruprakash Sivabalan, Founder & CEO at Xobin – Guru has been an entrepreneur right from his days of doing computer science at SRM University, where he formed a team of 72 to build a search engine customized for the university’s requirements. Today his startup, Xobin solves a problem for companies using online tests for hiring – its AI-based Interact engine can detect unfair means used by candidates. Xobin was also selected for the accelerator program of Axilor, and also got funded under its scale-up program.

Subhendu Panigrahi, Co-Founder & CEO at Skillenza – When we first met Subhendu Panigrahi back in 2014, he told us that people called him the Chalta Firta LinkedIn – which roughly translates to a “perambulating LinkedIn.” His passion for networking made this IIT Kharagpur alumnus a natural fit for solving problems related to talent in the startup world. His startup began by filling the gap in skills between college education and industry requirements. Currently, it sets up challenges for techies to tackle and showcase their abilities better than a resume. Skillenza works with corporate clients to create challenges and build communities around talent.
