Hello TIA community,
I am Malini Agarwal, Founder & Creative Director of MissMalini Media. Founded in 2011, we are a cross-platform new media company dedicated to entertaining, inspiring and connecting India’s internet generation.
Today, the company’s pioneering Bollywood, Fashion & Lifestyle blog, missmalini.com, attracts over 4 million monthly unique visitors from over 220 countries, generating over 20 million monthly page views. With an organic social media following of over 6 million fans, MissMalini has a Klout score that places it among the top 1% of Indian digital influencers.
At MissMalini we create content. We’re here to entertain you, tell you what’s up, what people are saying, what’s worth knowing, trying on, eating and watching. We’re your best friend, and we’re never too tired to go out.
I moved to Bombay in the new millennium with 2 suitcases and a dream (and lived in a house with six girls and a pigeon! All the trappings of a Bollywood movie!).
After years of dabbling in creative careers like professional dancer, wannabe VJ, sometimes emcee, geek-chic copywriter and radio DJ, I decided to write. I wanted to save and relish the experiences I was having in the city of lights and magic. I wanted to taste the words.
I also wanted people all over the world to stop assuming that India was just what they were used to seeing on the Discovery Channel – Villages and Slumdog Millionaire. My India was everything. Poverty and ache yes, but also glamour and fashion, food and gossip, luxury and travel, love and music. And of course, so many beautiful, perfectly imperfect people…
You can ask me whatever your little heart desires! But my two favourite topics are love and social media.
And finally a few things you didn’t know about me, I think.
- I love reading.
- I’m actually quite shy. I disguise this brilliantly however by pretending not to be shy.
- I used to be a pool shark (in another life, at The Ghetto)
- Holi is my favourite day of the year. If I could, that is how I would celebrate my birthday every year.
- I’m afraid of heights and deep water but I will brave them both if you give me FOMO.
- I believe in magic.
Oh and no, the blog will NEVER be called Mrs. Malini (haha, you’re so funny yaar!) If you really want to know why just ask away!
