Hi, I’m Mahesh Murthy, one of India’s better-known venture capitalists, a reasonably decent marketer and a more-than-reasonably opinionated gent.

Some things about me that might be interesting:

• I dropped out of college and hence was kicked out of home
• I sold vacuum cleaners door-to-door
• I wrote ads, and for a short while, was India’s most-awarded advertising copywriter
• I wrote and directed a short promo for MTV that was once voted Asia’s best ad film of the decade
• I helped design and launch Yahoo, globally
• Ditto for Amazon.com
• I used to run MTV’s rival, Channel V, in India
• I now run a VC fund called Seedfund as well as a digital brand management firm called Pinstorm
• I go to office 2 days a week
• I love to travel – 65 countries and counting. All 7 continents
• I’m the most-followed Indian on Quora – I think
• I have a huge following on LinkedIn, but I’m not sure why
• I’m a single Dad and I have 3 kids. I love them to bits.
• I think most of the investing in today’s startup market is stupid
• Nevertheless, I love being among startup folks.
• I think the venture capital system is broken
• I’m quite vehemently opposed to Facebook’s Internet.org – or “Free Basics” as they call it today.
