GO-Jek latest vertical, GO-Food seems like rampaging the food delivery sectors

Approximately 2 months ago GO-Jek, the startup that do on-demand transportation and logistic serices for motorbike-taxi or known as “ojek” in bahasa Indonesia gain a lot of traction from their new product, GO-Food. People like the way how GO-Food do it. With mass supplies of this motorbike taxi driver, when you order through the app, closest Ojek driver will go to the restaurant order it for you, wait for it and then send it to you. Few times I saw those ojek driver with GO-Jek jacket is queuing for Burger King and KFC. People prefer GO-Food compared to the restaurant owned delivery services. 

GO-Food, with their mass supplies of ojek drivers seems like beat incumbent FoodPanda and Klik-eat and other?

I use this services one or two times. Quite fast, better than the existing competitors. But the main reason for me to use the service is because the delivery fee is free. Yeah it is free, for now. Once they stop the free promotion, I imagine myself if I must pay IDR 50k-100k for delivery of a food that maybe only cost me IDR 25k. Didn’t make sense.

This lead to a question, the time GO-Food start to charge users, will the traction go down? Will people still use it? I think people will stop using it. Or at least I will stop. I think the stickiness level is artificial because it is free.

What do you think? Will people stop using GO-Food once they charge the users? If so, what will the rest of startup do?
