How we built our very first voice bot

Voice assistants or voicebots like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri all won a place in people’s hearts. The reason behind their popularity is quite obvious: they make life convenient!
But how can a company use a voicebot?
Being a conversational AI company, we at Haptik had over four years of experience building bots for a text-based interface. But building for voice was fairly different and a challenge that we were raring to work on. That’s when we received our first request from a client to build a voicebot for a fast food chain.
Here’s our story.
Types of voicebots
A voicebot is a type of chatbot. Its two types are:
1. Voice + text bots: hybrid voice + chat support model

If you’ve used Siri or Google Assistant on your smartphones before, you would be familiar with how voice + text bots work. These are text-based bots with a layer of voice on top of it. The input forms are both speech and text.
2. Voice-only bots: voice-controlled devices

Alexa (on Amazon’s Echo speakers) and Google Assistant (on Google Home devices) are the most popular voice assistants in the market today. These beautiful products can handle everything from setting alarms and playing music to controlling your gadgets and turning your house into a smart home.
