Foreigners have a powerful edge over local entrepreneurs—they think different—and spot opportunities that the locals can’t see.

When I was in the UK, I had a complete drought of business ideas. I felt exactly like you because I was part of the system. I thought like everyone else, so like everyone else, I couldn’t see opportunities.

Now, I live in Malaysia and all I see are business opportunities. Really, the difference is that stark. I can see services that are available in the UK that aren’t in Malaysia; I can see how UK operators do things differently—sometimes better—than Malaysian ones; I know successes in the UK that would likely do well in Malaysia.
