Your business has launched a new blog, or perhaps your blog is your business. You’re full of ideas, enthusiasm and excitement. You’re ready to write blog after blog with all the ideas you have, and you feel like you can keep going forever, ensuring your blog is a powerhouse in your industry for years to come.
That’s all great—until it isn’t.
One of the number one reasons business blogs fail is because the people behind them suffer from burnout. It’s easy to be enthusiastic in the beginning, but then any number of things can happen that derail you. Maybe you’re focusing on other areas of your business, and you just don’t feel like you have the time for regular blogging.
Perhaps you have a case of writer’s block, or you’ve run out of topic ideas. Maybe you’re frustrated because you don’t feel like you’re getting the traffic or the results you’d like to see.
These are all understandable reasons your blogging efforts may stall, but there are ways to keep yourself on track.
Remaining engaged and on track with your blogging is the only way you’re going to get results over time and build loyalty among your readers. So how do you make that happen and avoid the dreaded blogging burnout?
Create a calendar
According to Neil Patel’s guide on creating a money-making blog, a calendar is an essential part of the equation. Patel points out the biggest problem he sees with blogs is that people give up on them for whatever reason.
With an editorial or content calendar, bloggers can provide themselves with a sense of organization and a way to stay focused on their topics and their goals.
It’s also a good way to have plenty of ideas at your disposal when you’re feeling a little less creative, and a calendar can be a good way to bring other people into blogging so that you’re not shouldering all of the work yourself.
If you find that you’re not particularly inspired to blog anymore, your calendar can provide you with the resources and topic areas you might need to re-spark your creativity, and it’s also a good way to hold yourself and other content creators accountable.
Reach out to guest bloggers
Guest bloggers are an excellent resource. When you find strong guest bloggers that have their own following, you are more likely to grow your audience. Guest bloggers can also bring a different perspective to your blog, and they can add a sense of authority to your site.
Finally, guest bloggers are great because simply put, they can help you avoid burnout. Delegate some of your blogging to guests, particularly if you feel like you’re facing burnout.
