I’m Bharat Sethi, founder & CEO of PosterGully. AMA!

Hello TIA Community!

I’m Bharat Sethi, a start-up enthusiast with a lot of interest in building marketplaces, e-commerce, and retail design. I started selling art on Ebay at age 16 while still in school. I founded PosterGully in early 2012 as a side project to continue with my interest in solving the monetisation problem for artists & designers. Since then, I’ve played an integral part in getting over 6 million users to the unique marketplace with an unusually high conversion rate, gross margins & profitability. Under my leadership, our lean team bootstrapped to $175K in a short span of time before raising funds from marquee angel investors. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of Delhi (2011).

• Started out alone from my house terrace. Expanded our office five times since then

• If given a chance, would skip college altogether
• Very early adopter of a lot of famous unicorns now
• Huge fan of VICE network. Specially because of my deep interest in global politics and international relations
• Quit my first job in 4 days
• I’m extremely frugal
• Can recite many of a16z podcasts in sleep
• Travelled to 12 countries
• Won university best actor and played football for my state
• Topped my Physics board exam in school and Game Theory exam in university. Funny enough, never attended a single teaching class for both of them
• Because of my geeky curious nature, I question a lot. Sometimes, its agitating
• Self proclaimed ‘Biggest Pink Floyd’ fan
• I don’t read newspapers at all, but scan through over 50 blogs everyday
• Haven’t watched television in 5 years now
• I love to lead, motivate people and create value for everybody who interacts with me
• I feel more comfortable sleeping with my laptop than my pillow
• Surrounded myself with experienced mentors and advisors very early on
