Taiwan’s 2024 Mobileheroes Global Competition Winners Announced: Gaining Access to ICT Supply Chain and Collaborations with Global Giants

TAIWAN – 11 NOV 2024 – Taiwan holds a prominent position in global semiconductor manufacturing, with TSMC as a notable leader in the field. Many related companies are key drivers propelling advancements in AI hardware technology. Furthermore, Taiwan’s ICT sector is recognized for its world-class technology and manufacturing capabilities. In this context, the Mobileheroes Global Competition [https://mobilehero.com/en/connectivity] in Taiwan drew 35 startup teams from 20 countries, showcasing international interest and collaboration in Taiwan’s thriving tech ecosystem.
After months of rigorous evaluation, the winners were announced on October 23. Taiwan’s Team Ataya claimed the championship with a solution that simplifies 5G private network deployment to be as easy as setting up Wi-Fi. The runner-up, Canada’s Team OVA, developed a product empowering users without specialized backgrounds to create and use XR applications independently. Third place was awarded to Portugal’s Team Enline, whose innovative digital twin technology enables power operators to manage facilities remotely across various locations with ease.
The organizers held an award ceremony and showcase on October 23, featuring booths for the Top 9 teams, each given a 3-minute stage presentation to highlight their products, technologies, and solutions. The event drew major Taiwanese ICT companies, including leading telecom operators Chunghwa Telecom, FarEasTone, and Taiwan Mobile; HTC subsidiary G REIGNS; prominent systems integrator HwaCom Systems; world-class manufacturer Pegatron; and global wireless communications leader Qualcomm. This networking opportunity has the potential to open new business avenues for the participating teams.
The organizers assembled a multinational team of experts to create a mentorship group, providing “Mentor Hours” coaching sessions for the Top 9 teams. Mentors hailed from Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Mosaic Venture Lab (with bases in Germany, the United States, and Taiwan), Canada’s ventureLAB, South Africa’s Zen Consortium, and Vietnam’s Block71. They guided teams in refining their business models and offered insights into market positioning, technology optimization, product features, and investment potential. Additionally, the teams visited three major Taiwanese companies—G REIGNS, Askey, and HwaCom Systems—where they explored 5G applications across various scenarios to gain deeper insights into Taiwan’s ICT industry.
Building on the successful interactions throughout this year’s events, there is strong anticipation for the 2025 competition, which is expected to further encourage exchanges and collaboration between Taiwan’s ICT industry and international teams.
