The folks at Tabulet just told us about Tabulet Alpha, a keyboard-shaped PC that was recently released. The PC is designed to look like a keyboard and the images sent to us look sleek.
Tabulet’s email didn’t catch my attention initially. I thought the Indonesia-based gadget maker was trying to pitch in a keyboard — “What the hell,” I was thinking to myself. But I scrolled down and realized that this isn’t just a keyboard, but also a PC.
The Tabulet Alpha is great for folks with a tiny desk space. As a Tabulet rep puts it, “Saving space and saving energy inspired the design of Tabulet Alpha.”
It weighs about 2 kilograms — far lighter than a traditional desktop PC and about the weight of a heavy laptop. Despite its small size, the Tabulet Alpha is equipped with built-in speakers and five USB ports. It’s also power efficient and quiet (no noisy fan drilling sound) with a power consumption of 17.5 watts and noise output of 27 decibels — as quiet as a library. It runs on Intel Atom D525 1.8Ghz dual core processor and 2GB of DDR3 RAM.
