SYNC 2024: Building Southeast Asia’s AI community

After running Tech in Asia events for almost six years, I’ve been lucky enough to meet some incredible founders, investors, politicians, authors, and even celebrities. So believe me when I say that the speaker lineup for this year’s SYNC is going to be world-class.

SYNC is our exclusive annual gathering of the who’s who of the tech and startup community. And this year, we’re dedicating an entire event to AI – frankly, there is no bigger trend or more critical technology for businesses right now.

As such, we are thrilled to welcome some of the biggest and most innovative names in AI to SYNC’s main stage this year:

  • Oliver Jay, OpenAI: From the company that kicked off the AI revolution, Oliver will share insights into OpenAI’s vision for the future and how it plans to keep breaking boundaries.
  • Min-Liang Tan, Razer: No stranger to Southeast Asia’s tech scene, Min-Liang will discuss the intersection of AI and gaming, revealing how Razer is integrating AI into its products to revolutionize users’ gaming experience.

Southeast Asia’s emerging AI community
Since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, I’ve frequently been asked about Southeast Asia’s AI startup scene. My answer? There’s still room for growth. While there’s activity here, we need to take it to a whole new level.

AI is the next great platform shift in technology, and Southeast Asian startups and companies have to stay on top of this innovation. A lot of the advances to date have been concentrated in the US and Europe, but we want to see breakthroughs emerging from this region as well. The potential of local applications and enterprise adoption is too big, too interesting, and too promising to sleep on.

Here at Tech in Asia, we have a vested interest in helping Southeast Asia stay ahead of the latest in tech. So for AI, we’re jumping in to help build the AI community in the region and accelerate AI adoption here, alongside our partners at the Singapore Economic Development Board and The Business Times.

Why SYNC?
SYNC is arguably our most popular event every year. It is composed of only 100 C-level executives, founders, investors, and corporations, and we handpick each attendee to join this exclusive gathering. Keeping in mind our goal of forging connections, we curate the program to provide as many opportunities as possible for these leaders to learn and share their insights.

Here are some of the things you can look forward to at SYNC:

  • Expert roundtables: Intimate and focused discussions on critical topics surrounding AI, including a founder’s roundtable, an investor’s guide to AI, and the future of generative AI in Asia
  • Startup spotlight: A showcase of some of the most exciting AI startups from across Asia, which will highlight their groundbreaking technologies and give them a chance to meet potential investors and customers
  • Strategic networking: Opportunities to connect with key industry players and innovators that will cultivate valuable partnerships and collaborations against a five-star backdrop

If you’re a founder, an investor, or a business leader eager to keep up with the latest in AI, join us in shaping the future of AI in Southeast Asia. Apply now to be a part of the conversation that drives innovation and growth in the region’s AI ecosystem.
