Crowd-Sourced Gadget and Fashion News at StyleKandi.com

stylekandiMalaysia-based start-up StyleKandi.com is a crowd-sourced platform where users share the latest trends in many areas of interest — fashion, cars, tech and gadgets, and many more.

The tech section caught my attention and I learned some interesting tidbits about the latest wacky gadgets through the site. Here are two that caught my eye (Apple fanboy alert, you’re forewarned):

  • POPA – No more sucky touchscreen camera button. POPA adds a big red physical button to your iPhone for Instagram/photo-sharing lovers.
  • Atari Arcade – An add-on that gives your iPad a joystick with arcade buttons, specifically built for hardcore iPad gamers. See below:

Anyway, enough with the Apple gadget add-ons. My point is, StyleKandi isn’t like all the other content aggregators or self-proclaimed user-generated content sites that often feature below-average content. StyleKandi has gathered a group of loyal users who share interesting articles on the site — or at least under its tech column! (Head over here to judge for yourself)

Mark Wills, the co-founder of StyleKandi, told me that within four months his site has built up a community of over 4,000 members, and is still growing.

The site was developed because both co-founders, Mark and David Grimley, wanted a platform for users to interact with the brands – particularly in Asia. Mark added:

We wanted to build a community around the love of brands and products for Asian people – a place where people, who applaud brands, could share, discover and learn. A place where brands could also be part of that conversation.

It’s tough to unite things in Asia and I know this from first-hand experience. So I’m really looking forward to seeing how the team attempts to connect brands and consumers on this continent. Even if Mark and David’s vision can’t be achieved, StyleKandi seems valuable just as a platform for users to share the latest global trends.

StyleKandi has received seed capital from two of its four directors, and is now currently looking for angel investment so as to scale its business.

Stay ahead in Asia’s tech landscape
