How Twitter and Twestival Help CARE Singapore

This Thursday is Twestival night. You saw the ad banners, learned about the prizes, tweeted #twsg11, donated and know where to head for a fun and meaningful Thursday night.

All this little things are baby steps toward achieving a common goal: A goal to help CARE Singapore, our beneficiary organization for 2011.

Wonder what all these mean to CARE? We were curious too. Through Supriya’s help, we managed to learn more from Adelyn Poh who is the Co-founder and Director of Enterprise at Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE Singapore). In her short interview, she shared with us how Twestival and Twitter have helped CARE Singapore so far. It has been an amazing Twestival experience for CARE. Catch the dialogue below:

W: How do you feel as the beneficiary of Twestival 2011?

A: Absolutely thankful and delighted – this has opened up a whole new world to us and we’re totally grateful for this privilege!

W: How did Twestival, Twitter and social media help CARE? Do you think Twitter is a powerful tool for charity?

A: Besides the funds raised to support our work, we are also learning so much about harnessing the power of social media.

Furthermore, the strong support of so many people has also been a tremendous morale booster and inspiration for my staff and students! Powerful tool? I’m new to Twitter – and so far, I’ve just been amazed at the interest and responses generated. It certainly looks awesome!

W: How does CARE plan to use the money raised?

A: The money will support our work of guiding and re-directing young people from destructive choices and lifestyles by motivating, training and providing them with necessary life skills. Our specialty is in helping challenging youth turn their lives around and create a future with hope.

W: Anything to say to the Twestival team and donors?
