1. Hotel Finder | China
Hotel Finder (aka Jiu Dian Da Ren) is a hotel booking mobile app for China with over 30,000 hotels in its database. The app, developed by Ikamobile, is targeted at mobile users only with no desktop application. So what’s so special about it? Nothing much really, but the app is gaining a lot of steam in China. 2. Tiket | Indonesia
Tiket.com finally soft-launched its website. With all the great expectations on it because the PhaseDev team — well known for its knack making great products from Bouncity to WayangForce — masterminding the product, we’re finally getting closer to seeing the real thing…
3. PickRide | China
PickRide, with its apps for Android and iPhone, allows people to carpool in order to save money and find a convenient ride as an alternative to public transport. It’s also quite a rare example of a Chinese online-to-offline service (O2O) having an overseas success. In fact, PickRide and its founders originate from Hangzhou in eastern China, but its app and service have an English localisation and they work throughout the US (except California, for some reason).
4. Vgift | China
B2C e-commerce site Vgift.com.cn has just wrapped-up a round of funding – which is impressive as it hasn’t even officially opened yet. It has netted an unspecified “tens of millions of RMB” (at least US$1.57 million) led by the Chinese VC group Hao Wang Jiao.
5. AngelCrunch | China
China now has its own iteration of AngelList, and it’s called AngelCrunch. Using the tagline “where the best start-ups meet the smart money,” it’s designed to be an online community that can connect entrepreneurs with angel investors – and potential funding.
