Last month everyone in the Tech in Asia team got an email with a teasing subject line – “Where should we go next?” Inside was a questionnaire about where we should take our flagship conference in the future. 10 cities were up for grabs – some firmly inside the typical boundaries of “Asia,” some outside. And some of the options were in places where Tech in Asia does not (yet) have a consistent reporting presence.
And that presented us with a conundrum. We don’t want to go through all the effort of expanding only to confuse new fans with the dual branding. So, we’re going to streamline.
We are retiring the Startup Asia moniker and will put the rebrand into effect starting today. That means we will be seeing you in May at Tech in Asia Singapore 2015, in September at Tech in Asia Tokyo 2015, and in November at Tech in Asia Jakarta 2015. This cosmetic change is important for us, but it won’t change the conference for you.
Our conference is still 100 percent committed to bringing members of the startup community together and giving young companies a chance to get noticed, make connections, and keep pushing forward. That’s why we are are going on a tour around Asia to find promising startups and bring them to Singapore for free. That’s why this year, we eliminated booth fees and will be hosting 250 of the region’s hottest startups in Bootstrap Alley. And that’s why we are excited to introduce new perks for investors and a community night crawl.
And, of course, that’s why a host of amazing and inspiring speakers will be taking the stage. But that’s a story for another day!
