Infographic: Invictus Gaming’s 6.78 and 6.79 drafting

Last time, we gave you an infographic on Team DK’s 6.78 and 6.79 drafting. Now, let’s take a look at another top Chinese team — Invictus Gaming (iG).

IG is known for winning The International 2012 (TI2). Although they managed to play with the same roster in The International 2013 (TI3), their performance was far from the previous year and iG shared the 5th/6th spot with Team DK. With the dismay team’s performance and internal issues, an inevitable roster change took place. Invictus Gaming replaced Wong Hock ‘ChuaN’ Chuan and Chen ‘Yao’ Zhou with Jiao ‘Banana’ Wang and Chen ‘Hao’ Zhihao.

But the changes didn’t end there, as Dota 2 received one of Dota 2‘s craziest changes in the 6.79 update patch. After changing their roster, now let’s see what is iG’s hero picks and bans for 6.79.

Even before heading to DatDota.com for the data on this infographic, I figured I would be seeing Visage in one of the top picks since Faith likes to pick him a lot. In fact, not only is he part of the top picks, but also the most contested. Visage is generally a versatile hero and is effective for pushing and pick offs.

Looking at Banana’s heroes, Venomancer is his third most played and third most successful hero with a 60% win rate. The Plague Wards are very useful especially after their buff. It is also effective when facing Luna, as her glaives don’t bounce on the Plague Wards. Another thing that surprised me is Pugna as Ferrari_430’s third most played hero. Ferrari_430 strikes me as a player who is very awesome on mobile and ganking heroes such as Puck, Templar Assassin, and Nightstalker. Seeing him playing a lot of Pugna, in my opinion, should be a good sign. After all, players must get out of their comfort zone and play other heroes if they don’t want to be washed by the tide of the changing meta.

In this current roster, iG currently has one championship under their belt, which is the Sina Cup Supernova Dota 2 Open and is currently participating in the G-League, HyperX Dota 2 League (D2L), and WPC-ACE Dota 2 to name a few. The team, however, has yet to experience a tournament outside of Asia. This is unless they win their remaining matches in the D2L for a trip to Las Vegas next year.
