Now we’ve always had the XSplit Broadcaster. It’s a popular streaming app for anyone from a bored gamer to professional shoutcasters. But developer Split Media Labs has decided to take it a step further with XSplit Gamecaster.
XSplit Gamecaster is the Broadcaster, but with everything Split Media Labs has learned from streaming and the people who stream. It does away with the need for additional third party programs, it adds really helpful stuff for streamers, and it just makes streaming such an easy experience. It’s slated for a February 18, 2014 release.
Best of all, the existing pricing is not going to change even with a new, much better app.
What’s new
XSplit Gamecaster introduces an in-game overlay that makes streaming as simple as clicking one button. You will no longer have to set up your stream beforehand; you can do everything while still remaining in the actual game screen.

From the overlay console, you’ll be able to start or stop your stream or recording and adjust the settings of your microphone, speakers, and webcam. You’ll also be able to select the channel in which you’d like your stream to appear, share the link on social media, and draw annotations.
This is a huge godsend. Streamers can interact better with viewers and the feature makes it easier to point out things like locations, the path that’s going to be taken, or even your plan of attack. It’s especially helpful for professional players who do online coaching sessions as well.

XSplit Gamecaster also supports streaming in full-screen mode and window mode and as well as anything from DirectX 8 to DirectX 11 as well as OpenGL games. This is sometimes an issue with other streaming software, as you have to change the kind of scene or source for certain games. Additionally, the Gamecaster has native support of streaming sites like YouTube Live, Twitch and UStream.
