South Korea gov’t forms AI working group with Samsung, Hyundai

South Korea has formed a working group with Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, SK Telecom, and Naver Cloud to implement a nationwide AI infrastructure plan using Nvidia GPUs.

The group, chaired by second vice science minister Ryu Je-myung, met on November 27, 2025 to discuss strategies for deploying up to 260,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, which were announced for the Korean market last month.

Executives from the participating companies reviewed approaches to expand Korea’s AI ecosystem, and agreed to hold regular coordination meetings.

Nvidia’s plan is expected to grow Korea’s total installed AI GPU capacity from around 65,000 to over 300,000 units.

The initiative aims to position Korea as a major AI computing hub outside the US.
