SoftBank Corp. said on May 25 it will launch an “AI Data Center GPU Cloud” in October 2026 as part of its Neo Cloud business, for AI model development, inference, and data processing.

In SoftBank’s terminology, Neo Cloud means installing chips and systems in its own data centers and offering them as cloud services. Infrinia AI Cloud OS is a software stack for AI data centers.

The launch puts SoftBank Corp. into a domestic market where GMO Internet Group, KDDI, Highreso, Rutilea, and SAKURA internet are also building AI infrastructure and graphics processing unit cloud services. Nvidia said those efforts are backed by a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry program to provide computing resources.

SoftBank Corp. has previously said it plans to use Sharp’s Sakai plant site in Osaka Prefecture for a large-scale AI data center for its own generative AI development and external users.

Nvidia also said SoftBank is building AI supercomputers with Blackwell platforms. SoftBank did not disclose pricing, capacity, or customers for the new service.
