The popular Summon Auntie app has pushed out a fresh update. There are a few improvements, as it is now more accurate and includes more useful features like the Map Tab. The app still preserves its blue theme and its ‘Singlish’ which I believe most Singaporeans would gladly appreciate for its uniqueness. (For more background about the app, see our previous post.)
The Summon Auntie app update comes with three major features, according to Sanjay Shivkumar, the co-founder of Replaid:
- Mini-Map on Main Screen: A mini map on the main screen for users to confirm that their parked vehicle location is correct before hitting the park button. Otherwise, all alerts will be irrelevant, right?
- Summon Auntie Map Tab: The all new map tab shows the user’s current location, the parked vehicle as well as the alerts of summon aunties whereabouts alerted by all users. Past alerts for the hour are shown in red circles while the latest alert within the vicinity is marked with a red alert pin. This new feature is requested by users and is seriously bad-ass.
- Coupon Timer: This feature is for the good boys who obey the laws. It alerts you when your coupon runs out.
Frequent users will also realize that the “kena” button (means ‘get caught’ in English) was removed. Sanjay explained that it was removed because it not many users actually used it and the app needed real estate for the timer.
Sanjay says (somewhat humorously) that it was removed because no one “kenas” anymore!
We last learned that the Summon Auntie app was downloaded 200,000 times in its first month since launch. The figure is probably more by now. I also understand that the team is working on monetizing the app which Sanjay remains tightlipped about.
