Hello reader,
The road to recovery is rarely straightforward. You may find yourself recovering from an allergic reaction, only to be hit with the flu right after. Sadly, that’s the story of my life.
For some of the companies we’re diving into today, recovery – whether financial or strategic – has come with its own share of roadblocks.
Take Singapore’s Doctor Anywhere. The telehealth platform ceased operations in Vietnam in 2025 after six years in the country. This appears to have worked in its favor – by the end of that year, Doctor Anywhere had posted its first operating profit.
I wrote about the company’s turnaround in today’s first Top Story.
Meanwhile in Silicon Valley, Meta looks to be cracking its knuckles as it tries to get back into the AI race with the launch of its open-source model, Muse Glimmer. After its Manus acquisition was blocked by the Great Wall of Chinese regulators, Meta is now looking to carve out its own place in the AI boom with a model built for agents.
My colleague Glenn dives into the move in detail in the Spotlight, including how it could prove instrumental in the US’ broader AI race against China.
Both Meta and Doctor Anywhere are still some distance from where they want to be in their respective “races,” but they are finding a path forward.
