Singapore’s Otsaw Digital develops robots for home deliveries

“Hoping to capitalize on a surge in demand for home deliveries, a Singapore technology company has deployed a pair of robots to bring residents their groceries in one part of the city-state. Developed by Otsaw Digital and both named ‘Camello’, the robots’ services have been offered to 700 households in a one-year trial,” Reuters reported.

Details:

  • The robots deliver food or parcels that are ordered online, making four or five dispatches a day on weekdays and are available for half a day on Saturdays.
  • After every trip, the units disinfect themselves using ultraviolet light.

Context:

  • The new product could help people receive contactless and humanless delivery, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, said Otsaw Digital’s chief executive Ling Ting Ming.
  • Founded in 2015, Otsaw Digital focuses on developing robotics technologies and artificial intelligence for healthcare, security delivery, and mobility applications.
