Reward-based fitness tracker GOQii Life launches on Amazon

Indian wearable tech company GOQii Inc launched its three-in-one fitness tracker, mobile app, and personal coaching service GOQii Life exclusively on Amazon.in today. The pack starts at INR 3,999 (US$65).

Through the mobile app, available in Android and iOS, users get access to fitness and behavioral experts as well as personal trainers who will interact with them one-on-one.

“At GOQii, we are passionate about providing our consumer all the support needed to stimulate their body, mind and soul and to achieve a permanent shift to a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle,” Vishal Gondal, founder and CEO of GOQii Inc. says in a statement.

GOQii’s fitness tracker also comes with a reward system. It lets users cash in steps into a virtual currency called “Karma points”. Users can then donate these Karma points to any social cause.

Making funky wearables more rewarding for the wearer not just through fitness, but in other tangible ways is a new twist companies in the wearable tech space have been adopting. Dubai-based health and wellness technology company Tupelo recently launched a new activity tracker Mymo that lets users cash in steps for rewards like mobile talk time, groceries, airline miles, and vacations.

The much-awaited smartband Nabu from gaming hardware company Razer also has a reward-based model. Nabu owners will be able to convert their number of steps walked, calories burnt, and hours slept recorded by the device into in-game rewards like gold or diamonds for power-ups.
