Singapore may be a host city for 2015’s World eSports Championship Games

Today, Bory Jun, former chief operating officer of the World Cyber Games and David Song, founder of the Global Mobile Game Confederation, took to the stage at Mobile Game Asia in Singapore to share a little more about the upcoming World eSports Championship Games (WECG), the spiritual successor to the now-retired World Cyber Games.

We all know that the WECG is going to happen in the December of this year, but now, we’re also privy to the fact that WECG 2014 will be held in China! It won’t be just an eSports festival, either.

WECG aims to be the largest gaming festival in the world, and will host global tournaments, gaming exhibitions, B2B conferences, amidst other content. It will also focus on games across platforms: mobile, PC, and console games will all be welcome there. More information is going to be announced at an upcoming eSports summit in South Korea on July 31.

Exciting, right? What’s even more exciting is that both Jun and Song have made the most out of their time in Singapore, and have sat down to speak with the Media Development Authority and Infocomm Development Authority in the country. Specifically, to speak about Singapore someday being a host city for the WECG, possibly as early as 2015.

This is the Global Mobile Game Confederation’s first eSports event, but with experienced leaders like Bory Jun and David Song at its helm, we’ve no doubt that it’s going to be an amazing one.
